What is the Gospel?

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL? (Good news of Salvation found in Jesus)

Let the Apostle Paul speak to this directly.

"Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 BY THIS GOSPEL you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was BURIED, that he was RAISED on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born." 1 Cor 15:1 - 8

Now some want to muddy the waters through making much of the 'Gospel of the Kingdom' and downplaying the central hub of it all. Others promote different doctrines that may or may not underpin the Gospel but if your life is not anchored in this Gospel as simply described above you are not saved.

The Gospel (good news) is so simple that even a child can grasp it yet so deep that one can expound on it and it's implications for a life time.

Here is the reality, though our society may despise the idea of being 'in' and 'out' of acceptance, if you are not 'in Christ' (Eph 1:4 (ie. chosen IN who and what Christ has done) then you are out of the blessing of God.

WHAT SIMPLY IS THE GOSPEL?

That Christ died for your sins, that he made a spectacle of death by rising from the dead, that this was all shown true by presenting himself to his disciples and over 500 hundred others.

HOW DO I ACCESS THIS GRACE? (gift)

"if you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, YOU WILL BE SAVED. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, ‘ANYONE who BELIEVES in him will never be put to shame.’[e] 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile – the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, ‘EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.’" Romans 10:9 - 13
